Steve Bruce's days as Newcastle manager are numbered now that the takeover has been finalised.
The former Manchester United defender is the hot favorite to be the next Premier League manager to be fired.
Meanwhile, there are a slew of candidates vying for the position.
Roberto Martinez
Martinez's time with his adopted country may be coming to an end after being dumped out of the Nations League by France on Thursday after witnessing his Belgium team grab a 2-0 lead.
There has certainly been a disheartening trend of getting within a whisker of victory just to have it snatched away. That was never more obvious than when France's Theo Hernandez scored a last-second victory
While his experience with Wigan and Swansea suggests he would be a good fit for Newcastle, he is also reported to be interested in a job with Barcelona, which may top anything that comes available at St James' Park for the time being.
Antonio Conte
Conte, who was out of employment after guiding Inter to the Serie A triumph before the summer, was approached by Arsenal but declined the position because he believed the Gunners' roster had the necessary talent to win.
While Newcastle's panel is now in much worse shape, there is always the possibility of creating something substantial with the Magpies. This may be the project for Conte if he wants to work on anything long-term.
Steven Gerrard
Has had some success with Rangers, leading them to the Scottish Premiership championship last season, although given the club's status, one domestic trophy out of nine is not very noteworthy.
Moreover, despite the fact that the Gers are top of the league once again, Gerrard is failing to build on last season's triumph.
May believe he has pushed Glasgow United as far as he can, making a return to the Premier League an appealing possibility.
Eddie Howe
Howe, another out-of-work manager who would be easily available, had a fantastic stint at Bournemouth, when he effectively built the club as a Premier League team despite having no prior experience at that level.
After a break from the game, he'll be anxious to get back to work.
Frank Lampard
Lampard, who was fired by Chelsea in January, is an outsider for the Newcastle post, having struggled after a good first season at Stamford Bridge.
He left the Blues in disarray, with Thomas Tuchel picking up the pieces and leading them to the Champions League, albeit taking a far different approach than his predecessor.
Newcastle would be a great way to get back into the game, but the club may believe there are better choices available.
